abroad at the General Directorate for Cultural Relations, Ministry of Foreign
Affairs;
- Head of the Economic/Commercial Office at the Embassy of
Italy in
Lagos
(
Nigeria) from 1976 to 1979;
- Head of the Consulate of
Italy in Tolosa (France) from 1979 to 1984;
- Returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in
Rome as Head of the Office for
Scientific Co-operation and subsequently Head of the Office for Cultural
Agreements between 1984 and 1987;
- First Counsellor for Social Affairs at the Embassy in
Ottawa (
Canada) from
1987 to 1992;
- Deputy Ambassador and First Counsellor for Political Affairs at the Embassy
in
Copenhagen (
Denmark) from 1992 to 1995;
- Returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in
Rome as Head of the Office
for
Latin America at the Directorate General for Economic Affairs and subse-
quently Head of the Office for Italian Nationals, Passports and Civil Status
Laws at the Directorate-General for Emigration and Social Affairs between
1995 and 1999;
- First Counsellor (First Committee - Disarmament) and Head of Security at the
Permanent Representation at the United Nations in
New York (
USA) from
1999-2002;
- Ambassador of
Italy in
Lusaka (
Zambia) with accreditation also to
Botswana
and
Malawi, and to the Sub-Regional Organization COMESA (Common
Market of Eastern and Southern Africa) and SADC (
Southern Africa Devel-
opment Community) from 2002 to 2006;
- Returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in
Rome to the Office of the
Director General for Sub-Saharan Africa as Co-ordinator, first for the EU
Africa Working Group (COAFR), and then for the Joint Africa-EU Strategy
(JAES) between 2006 and 2010;
- Ambassador in
Accra from 8
th June 2010;
- Awarded Italian Grand Medal of “Cavaliere Ufficiale dell’
Ordine al Merito
della Repubblica” in 1994.
